Join us for an adrenaline-pumping fundraiser Saturday, September 7, 2024 and go "Over The Edge" at The Avista Resort, North Myrtle Beach for New Directions' 3rd Annual Over The Edge event.

As a participant you'll embark on an exhilarating journey, safely rappelling down a towering 17 stories, descending a heart-pounding 164 feet! All in support of New Directions' crucial mission: empowering individuals to conquer the obstacles of homelessness, poverty, and addiction.

  • We're glad you asked! Over The Edge events are not like your typical rappel - all OTE staff are highly trained industrial rope specialists with IRATA or SPRAT certifications and OTE rappel rigs are set up to meet OSHA industrial at-height worksite standard Over The Edge has an impeccable safety record - over 100,000 people have gone over the edge through events all over the world, with more than 250 events hosted each year.

  • The event will go on rain or shine, unless an unsafe condition exists due to rain (such as heavy rain or lightning). Should unsafe conditions occur, a weather-related delay will be initiated until conditions become safe to continue. Decisions regarding delays or other event safety matters, remains at the sole discretion of the Over The Edge Site Safety Supervisor.

  • The event is open to all ages. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian, and all participants must be within the 100 to 300 pound required weight range (as per Over The Edge safety standards).   • 100% of the proceeds raised from Over The Edge will support New Directions' mission to help people recover from the crises of homelessness, poverty, and addiction by providing basic needs, connection to resources, and community support.

  • New Directions, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization is the largest provider of shelter to those experiencing homelessness in the Grand Strand and operates shelters for men, women, and families with children. In addition to serving approximately 1,000 individuals each year through nights of shelter, New Directions offers nightly community dinner, a shower and laundry facility, and operates a peer support program, Addiction & Recovery Outreach (ARO) serving Horry and Georgetown Counties.

  • Over the Edge is a special events company that provides signature events for non-profit organizations across Canada and the United States. Over The Edge and their team of Certified Rope Access Technicians have helped raise over $100 Million with non-profit partners, hosted over 1000 rappelling events, and maintained a spotless safety record through their 10 years of operation.
